Paediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The word paediatrics mean healer of children; they derive from two Greek words: παῖς (pais = child) and ἰατρός (iatros = doctor or healer). The department of paediatrics strives towards preventing disease and promoting good health in children and encourages students to develop an interest in child health. The Paediatric Department of the Institution is a well established, reputed centre for looking after sick children from this part of the country.
