The department of general surgery is mainstay of any hospital/Medical College. General Surgery of GS Medical College & Hospital is a fully functioning department, working all seven days of the week (24/7), with eminent faculty being the back bone of the department. Over the period, the Faculty has changed from a pure General surgery team to a mix of General and Super-specialist surgeons, thus widening the profile and to the ultimate betterment of the Department.
In the department of general surgery we follow international standards, evidence based surgery, and ethics whenever we plan our surgeries. There is always a drive towards improvement and excellent patient care, and this motive is passed down through every member of the department.
The faculty of the department, apart from routine general surgical work including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and the thyroid gland, regularly perform basic & advanced Laparoscopic surgery and Onco-surgery.
